Hitachi showing off first 8K shoulder Camera at NAB 2013

This is the world's first compact shoulder-mount Ultra High Definition (16x HD!) camera.

Developed by NHK, it uses a single-chip color imaging sensor to produce 33MP video.

This compact head can also be used with commercially available still camera lenses.

As the single-chip sensor uses a Bayer color filter array, where only one color component is acquired per pixel, researchers at NHK have also developed a high quality up-converter, which estimates the other two color components to convert the output into full resolution video.

To view videos in this format NHK also presented a 145-inch 8K  plasma display last year.

"Even when viewed from 1.6 m away, this Ultra High Definition display makes you feel as if you're looking at a real scene. It doesn't use 3D technology, but the picture is so realistic, you feel truly immersed in the scene."
